The New Scholarship Fund
In addition, to the trophies awarded annually the Festival set up a Scholarship Fund, in 2006. It will be used every year to fund performers to attend the European Youth Summer Music Festival held every year in England. This provides an opportunity to perform with young people from other Festivals in the UK. Funding may also be given for consultancy sessions with tutors at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
This is an exciting and innovative new way of supporting young performers, while commemorating an individual or organisation.
The fund was launched in 2006 by two generous donations from Kings Glen Primary School in memory of Mr William Melrose, a former Head Teacher and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire West, which subsequently in 2007 announced that they would donate £1000 each year for the next three years.
The recipients of the 2009 scholarship are Samantha Parker & Christopher Duffy
If you wish to contribute to the scholarship fund and help it to expand further assisting more of our successful young performers please contact the Honorary Secretary or the Honorary Treasurer.
