The main aims of the Festival Association, as outlined in the Constitution, are:
a) to organise a Competitive Festival in Inverclyde and by that and other means to cultivate and encourage the appreciation and study of music, dance and speech
b) to be affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals, and to carry out as far as possible the objectives of the Federation.
We provide a platform for performances in these disciplines to be held in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere in front of an audience. The main emphasis is on taking part rather than winning. We seek to include the competitive element in circumstances where constructive advice engenders improvement of the performances, judged against the standards of others.
We are affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance and Speech which is the representative body of the Festival movement. Since 1921 the Federation has provided services to amateur Festivals and professional adjudicators across the country. Today the Federation includes over 300 Festivals in the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands and Hong Kong.
